Technician Job Summary:
The basic function of the Technician is to ensure that all appointments with the Pharmacist for Consults are scheduled and updated to the Pharmacist’s appointment log. Additionally, the Technician is responsible for performing all activities associated with the compounding and filling of prescriptions based upon the high standards of compounding practices of Pharmacy Specialists. The Technician must ensure that all Florida Pharmacy Laws and Federal Laws pertaining to prescription compounding are followed without deviation.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Compounding and dispensing prescription orders under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
- Monitoring compounding equipment
- Completing Tasks assigned by the pharmacists
- Formulation preparation under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
- Maintaining documentation requirements for all compounded products under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
- Responsible for answering incoming calls, waiting on customers, setting up appointments.
- Responsible for ensuring facilities are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, free of infestation. All disposals will be done in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Responsible for quality control on all procedures in keeping with Pharmacy Specialists’ high quality standards.
- Checks mail and UPS packages for correct labels/ addresses and mails prescriptions.
- Inputs prescriptions into the computer.
- Helps maintain proper inventory by ordering chemicals and supplies for the pharmacy.
- Sends faxes and makes copies as required.
- Performs a general assessment of the pharmacy to ensure all equipment is off and the pharmacy is ready for closing.
- Keeps Pharmacist informed of any pharmacy issues or problems.
- Performs any other special duties assigned by the Pharmacist.
Qualifications:
- Education – High School or equivalent (GED) and be participating in a Pharmacy Technician training program in preparation for certification.
- Experience – Completed all required course work.
- Licensure – Must have a current Florida Pharmacy Technician license beginning 12-31-2009 and be in good standing with the board of pharmacy
- Skills, knowledge and abilities – The Technician should have the ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of this position including:
- Ability to work independently, to work well with others in a multi-functional fast paced environment.
- Must have the awareness and training to ensure they, as well as co-workers, are protected from chemical exposure and drug products from contamination.
- Must maintain confidentiality of patient profiles.
- Must have strong team building skills.
