We currently have an opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician for our Pharmacy.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Assisting pharmacists: Collaborate closely with pharmacists by helping them in all aspects of the pharmacy operation. This includes dispensing medications, labeling prescriptions, maintaining and organizing inventory, and verifying dosages and instructions.
2. Prescription processing: Receive written prescriptions and electronic orders from healthcare professionals and ensure that all necessary information is accurate and complete. Verify patient information, prescription validity, and potential drug interactions before processing the order.
3. Medication dispensing: Prepare and package medications for distribution to patients by carefully measuring the required quantity, counting tablets, and labeling containers with pertinent dosage and usage instructions.
4. Insurance coordination: Work with patients and insurance companies to process insurance claims, verify coverage, and ensure the accuracy of billing information. Communicate with insurance providers to obtain prior authorizations for certain medications.
5. Inventory management: Monitor stock levels of medications and supplies, placing orders as needed and maintaining accurate records of inventory. Perform routine inspections to ensure the quality and expiration dates of medications, disposing of outdated or damaged products following proper procedures.
6. Patient assistance: Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, concerns, and problems related to medications. Offer guidance to patients on drug interactions, potential side effects, and proper usage. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive appropriate medications and information.
7. Pharmacy regulations and compliance: Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations regarding the handling, packaging, and dispensing of medications. Stay up-to-date with changes in pharmacy laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with pharmacy policies and procedures.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Registered Pharmacy Technician license in Florida required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a healthcare environment.
- Previous experience in pharmacy, OTC, and/or dispensary environment and pharmacy terminology preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (if required by the state).
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy procedures and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with pharmacy software systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts.
- Strong ethics and a commitment to patient confidentiality.
Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8-hour shift; flexible schedule
