The Pharmacy Department provides services to patients cared for at Tampa General Hospital and Tampa General Medical Group. Services provided include clinical and distributive services to in-house patients, outpatient and specialty prescriptions, infusion center, and ambulatory clinical services. The department is composed of approximately 300 team members, including pharmacists, technicians, and support staff. Pharmacy team members have backgrounds that represent a diverse mix of experiences, training, and certifications in multiple areas of pharmacy. The Department of Pharmacy offers accredited residency training programs, is affiliated with pharmacy schools in the State of Florida, and technical training programs within the Tampa Bay area.
Job Summary
Under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, and following established policies and procedures, assist in the various activities of pharmacy practice such as preparation & dispensing of medications, medication distribution, non- sterile and sterile compounding, inventory management, including the use of automated medications cabinets, handling of controlled substances, and maintenance of assigned areas. Assesses the age-specific needs of the patients. Responsible for performing duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital and state and federal regulations.
Required Skills
High School or General Equivalency (GED) Diploma. Current Florida Pharmacy Technician registration/license. Ability to push, pull, or lift forty (40) pounds. Minimum of 6 months of experience or completion of externship at TGH required. In the absence of a current State of Florida, Board of Pharmacy issued permit as a Registration Pharmacy Technician, a current/active Pharmacy Intern permit, issued by State of Florida, Board of Pharmacy may be substituted.
