Day in the life of a Pharmacy Resident:
Works under the supervision of the Pharmacy Practice Residency Director and co-director(s) with guidance from the Residency Advisory Group, Pharmacy Director, and Practice Preceptors. The resident is expected to complete the required goals set forth by the ASHP pharmacy residency accrediting body. Job duties and responsibilities are set up by Residency Director, co-directors(s), and Practice Preceptors for each specific rotation. Provides pharmaceutical care to the types and ages of patients defined by the pharmacy scope of practice.

Here is what you will be doing:
• Provides clinical services to patients and health care providers, including but not limited to counseling, drug information, dosing, calculations, pharmacokinetic consults, and charting.
• Completes requirements for residency experiences during the planned time frame for each rotation designed by the residency program keeping patient safety and sound clinical judgment in mind. Meets ASHP prescribed goals.
• Interprets and assesses orders and maintains the clinical database in the pharmacy system. Prepares, compounds, dispenses medications per published guidelines, standards and Cheyenne Regional Medical Center policy.
• Assists the department and patient care areas in identification and resolutions of patient safety issues related to medication use.
• Verifies the work of pharmacy technicians, students, and interns. Participates in activities designed by Practice Preceptors for each rotation that may include but not limited to committee participation; in-services; teaching; educational programs; projects design and completion; newsletters; Journal Club; clinical rounds; medication use evaluations; quality improvement; drug information; etc.
• Verifies that all compounds (sterile and nonsterile) including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition products are accurate according to orders and standards. Maintains competency to prepare products. Actively works to improve medication safety by maintaining self-education and interventions to improve therapy and medication use systems and processes.
• Participates as a member of Code Blue and Trauma Respond teams.
• Procures critical drugs and oversees purchasing and patient charging including contract compliance, proper stocking levels, planning ahead, and cost-effectiveness.

• Uses all methods of communication to disseminate information to staff in a timely manner
• Professionally handles physician encounters with the patient’s best interest in mind.
• Discusses personnel, patient, and staff related issues in a confidential manner and setting with only those who need to know
• Complies with the system for ongoing competency maintenance and develops a self-assessment plan to maintain personal competency
• Demonstrates sound professional judgment consistent with clinical/academic background
• Seeks appropriate guidance when situation dictates advanced knowledge or judgment
Here is what you will need:
• Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy
• Registration and licensure with the Wyoming Board of Pharmacy or the ability to become licensed upon hire
• Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date
• AHA ACLS
