Job description

CarepathRx transforms hospital pharmacy from a cost center into an active revenue generator through a powerful combination of technology, market-leading pharmacy services and wrap-around services.
Job Details:
The PGY1 resident will have a unique opportunity to experience industry-leading technology coupled with comprehensive clinical care. Learning activities prepare residents to successfully care for patients in an ambulatory setting such as specialty, home infusion, or clinic-based pharmacy with a focus on population health. Integration with UPMC hospitals allows for resident interaction with faculty, clinicians, and other experiences necessary for success in an academic health system.
Position Specific Licensure/Certification: Eligible for Pennsylvania licensure within 90 days of hire
Responsibilities

  • Successfully perform daily activities associated with required, longitudinal, and elective rotations
  • Participate in clinical services provided by the department
  • Provide patient and staff education as requested
  • Perform in accordance with organizational and system-wide competencies/behaviors
  • Perform drug processing and dispensing activities to ensure the safe, effective, and accurate delivery of medications to patients.
  • Retrieve drug information from drug compendia, standard texts, literature review, manufacturer inquiry, or other validated sources to field and resolve patient and/or drug information questions
  • Maintain involvement in drug interventions and monitoring as defined by the department including but not limited to assessment of dosing regimens, recommending therapy/plan of care modifications when appropriate, lab review, clinical updates, and participation in medication event reporting
  • Participate in all activities associated with scheduled learning experiences
  • Provide education in the form of lectures, seminars, and written communication to pharmacy staff, students, and other members of the healthcare team
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and revision of policies/protocols, drug or drug class review, medication use evaluations (MUE)
  • Complete a longitudinal research project suitable for poster, platform, and publication submission

Requirements
  • Applicants must register with the ASHP Residency Matching Program and apply through PhORCAS.

  • Required material includes:
  • Pharm.D. degree or equivalent
  • Eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Letter of intent detailing motivation for pursuing residency training
  • Official academic transcript
  • Three professional references (submitted through PhORCAS)
  • PA pharmacy license within 120 days of start date. /
