Position Summary:

Analyzes use of information systems in the pharmacy. Collaborates with operational and clinical pharmacy leaders on needs and informatics-related options. Researches and recommends new systems and enhancements to the system pharmacy leadership team.  Serves as a liaison to the HHC IT department and maintains communication and relationships with key leaders. Coordinates the day to day activities of the pharmacy informatics team. Uses project management to plan and execute new system pharmacy initiatives related to informatics. Ensure informatics systems used by pharmacy are compliant with required billing standards. 

Position Responsibilities:

Key Areas of Responsibility

1.   Analyzes operations of pharmacy departments throughout system and other sources to identify opportunities for informatics related solutions.

2.   Keeps abreast of new pharmacy informatics related systems in the marketplace and makes recommendations to the pharmacy leadership team.

3.   Coordinates the day to day activities of the informatics team. Ensures scheduling and on call obligations are being fulfilled.

4.   Serves as a liaison to the HHC IT department and maintains communication and relationships with key leaders.

5.   Provides project management planning and support for new pharmacy informatics projects initiatives.

6.   Serves as a member of system pharmacy leadership team and advises group on issues related to pharmacy operations.

7.   Ensure informatics systems used by pharmacy are compliant with required billing standards.

8.   Performs all other duties as assigned. 

Working Relationships:

·        This Job Reports To (Job Title):Director or VP of Pharmacy Services as assigned

·        Number- Direct Reports: 0

·        Number- Indirect Reports: 10

·        If applicable, describe nature of supervision of any External vendors, contractors, affiliate organizations, etc. 

o   Indirect oversight of Informatics Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. Supply Chain, Corporate Compliance

o   External:HHC IT, Revenue Cycle, Project Management Office.

 

Qualifications

Education

·        Minimum:

o   Pharmacist:

§  Graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree

o   Non-Pharmacist:

§  Bachelor of Science Degree in informatics or another business-related field.

·        Preferred:

o   Master’s degree in informatics science, business field, or healthcare administration.

Experience

·        Minimum:

o   Five (5) or more year’s health-system pharmacy experience.

o   Three (3) or more years’ experience in a role related to pharmacy information systems.

·        Preferred:

o   Pharmacist:

o   Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency.

o   Completion of a PGY2 Pharmacy Residency Pharmacy Administration or Pharmacy Informatics.

Licensure, Certification, Registration

·        Pharmacist:

o   Licensed as a registered Pharmacist in Connecticut or eligible to receive licensure within 45 days.

·        Non-Pharmacist:

o   Must be registered as a Pharmacy technician with the Department of Consumer Protection within 30 days of hire.

o   Nationally certified as a pharmacy technician from a recognized certification board.

Language Skills

·        Strong command of English language, ability to articulate complex business and technical information in an effective manner

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements 

·        Excellent PC Skills

·        Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel

·        Excellent communication skills

·        Demonstration of modeling H3W Leadership Behaviors on a routine basis
