Pharmacist Specialty - Texas

Location: This position will work a Hybrid Model (remote and office). Ideal candidates must live within 50 miles or a 1 hour commute to the Elevance Health Office in Plano, Texas.

*May be required to travel to different worksites and other locations as necessary.

Work Shift Hours: Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm (CST) And rotating On-Call coverage.

The Pharmacist Specialtyis responsible to perform the duties of a licensed pharmacist. Ensures adherence to laws and regulations and maintains compliance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations as well as local, state, and federal requirements as it pertains to prescriptions.

How you will make an impact:

• Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security and inventory of controlled substances, and disposal of drugs designated as hazardous waste.

• Ensures compliance with laws governing the practice of pharmacy and distribution of drugs.

• Engages in consultation with prescriber regarding providing pharmaceutical care.

• Answers questions and provides information to patients on drug interaction, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.

• Ensures that stock and supplies necessary for customer care are ordered, stored, and handled in an organized and efficient manner.

• Lead the activities of pharmacy technicians and delivery/equipment technicians.

• Dispenses, and compounds drug.

• Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, and ensures quality, security, and proper disposal.

• Assists the patient delivery representative in orders, receiving, maintaining and tracking all infusion related equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

• Requires BA/BS degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D and minimum of 1 year experience working as a Pharmacist in clinic and/or alternate site/home health pharmacy service ; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

• Requires, current, active unrestricted license to practice pharmacy as Registered Pharmacist (RPh) . Multi-state licensure is required if this individual is providing services in multiple states.

• For Paragon and Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.
  

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

• Experience in clinical documentation processing.

• Experience with supervising pharmacy technicians.

• Dispensing.

• Knowledge of high dollar specialty medication.

• Experience conducting assessments.

• Assisting with formulary decisions.
