POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the intern assists the pharmacist in all phases of the department operation including unit dose, IV admixture, outpatient duties. She/he will advise the Director of malfunctioning equipment, maintenance problems, and any unusual situations, occurrences, conditions, reactions, or effects including those related to drugs, drug requests, usage or security. She/he must be able to work cooperatively with all hospital employees and patients and encourage and maintain good personal and business relationships with them. He/she may assist in the teaching of students and house staff where applicable. The Pharmacist Intern must perform other duties as needed. This position does not provide direct patient care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Currently enrolled or post graduate of School of Pharmacy
Experience:
- Six months experience within an acute care hospital preferred
License/Certification:
- Current Pharmacy Intern License from the State of California
Knowledge/skills/abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of responsibilities of a pharmacist and limits of pharmacy intern activities.
Responsibilities:
- An Intern Pharmacist performs the duties of a registered Pharmacist while working under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist in the fulfillment of his/her practical experience requirements
- Must be able to perform the typical duties of a Pharmacist such as manufacturing, dispensing, maintaining control of drugs and pharmaceuticals supplies, and performing other related work as required
- Ensures location compliance to all local, state, federal laws, and company policies and procedures
- Understands and complies with Policy and Procedure Standards
