Duties/Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Provide pharmaceutical care, counseling, and guidance to patients undergoing specialized treatments. This often involves disease management, medication adherence, and side effect management.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care, addressing any medication-related concerns or needs.
- Operational Support: Oversee pharmacy operations, including dispensing medications, verifying prescriptions, handling inventory, managing fulfillment processes, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Clinical Support: Review and evaluate physician medication orders, ensuring appropriateness of drugs, dosage, and administration. Collaborate with healthcare teams to support clinical decision-making.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate patient records, document interactions, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and handle medication-related errors or adverse drug reactions.
- Education and Training: Train new staff, pharmacy students, and interns. Additionally, engage in continuous education and potentially contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experiences:
- Education: Pharm.D. or B.S. Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a practicing pharmacist; Experience with the dispensing and monitory of specialty drugs highly preferred.

- Certifications: Additional Board Certifications in relevant specialties preferred
- Licensure: Must be licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the respective state(s) of practice in addition to obtaining additional state licenses.
- Continuing Education: Maintain ongoing education and meet license renewal requirements set by the state's Board of Pharmacy.
- Specialty Practice Hours: Acquire a certain number of Specialty Pharmacy practice hours within a defined period and apply for relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Specialty Pharmacist - CSP).
Physical Requirements:
- Work Environment: Specialty pharmacists often work in specialized pharmacy settings, sometimes within larger healthcare facilities or dedicated specialty pharmacies.
- Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear; required to use hands to operate office equipment; must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30lbs; use specific vision requirements for this job include: close, distance and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position without compromising patient care.
- Schedule: Roles may vary but might involve a standard Monday to Friday schedule with no weekends or holidays (dependent upon the specific location).
