Job description

Description/Comment: "Pharmaceutical Technicians are primarily responsible for the manufacturing of pharmaceutical product per established specifications. They perform all the basic tasks relating to weighing, transferring, mixing, and processing of raw material to create a finished good. Pharmaceutical Technicians are also responsible for a variety of support activities, such as cleaning of production rooms, corridors, and equipment. All responsibilities are dictated by strict regulations (e.g., cGMP, SOP, batch records).
Safety & Compliance
o Understand and follow all environment, health, and safety requirements; in particular, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
o Always work in a safe manner.
o Understand and follow all current Good Manufacturing Practices regulations (cGMP), applicable standard operating procedures (SOP), and executed batch records.
o Complete all required training and qualifications regarding the role in a timely manner; in particular, ComplianceWire assignments.
Primary Manufacturing Activities
o Weigh and transfer materials using calibrated scales and balances.
o Utilize hand tools to assemble and disassemble various types of machinery.
o Perform basic calculations with aid of a calculator.
o Accurately complete all applicable documentation pertaining to completed tasks; in particular, batch records, forms, and cleaning records.
o Perform detailed cleaning of manufacturing suites and equipment using various cleaning solutions and in accordance with cleaning records.
o Maintain a work environment that is clean, organized, and audit-ready.

o Demonstrate basic problem solving and decision-making skills as related to job.
Technical Proficiency
o Possess basic technical understanding of processes in his/her functional area.
Collaboration, Teamwork, & Attitude
o Cooperate seamlessly with coworkers, Room Leader, Functional Leader, and Production Supervisor.
o Aid in training of new employees on basic tasks.
o Interact with customers and visitors in a highly professional manner at all time.
o Perform all tasks within a team as assigned by Room Leader, Functional Leader, and Supervisor.
Education or Equivalent:
Minimum of a High School Diploma.
Two-year technical or Associate's Degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Prior experience working in a pharmaceutical, biotech or food manufacturing environment (regulated by GMP standards and requirements) is preferred; with specific experience in oral solid dosage manufacturing (fluid bed, granulation, blending, compression, pan coating, or encapsulation manufacturing processes).
Work Schedule: Shifts of 8 or 12 hours in duration
Encapsulation Only - Individual must also be able to pass standardized color plate performance (HRR: PSEUDOISOCHROMATIC PLATES) and have corrected or uncorrected visual acuity of 20/30 near vision.
Essential Physical Job Tasks:
Handling of raw materials for product assembly
o Manipulation of drums to and from 6-inch pallets
o Drum weight <10kg. (Empty) to 150kg (max. full weight) up to 30 times per shift
o Maneuvering of drums in lab consisting of rolling, scooting, pushing and pulling (up to 80 lbs. of force)
o Utilization of scoops and other hand-held implements
o Lifting boxes and/or containers up to 40 lbs. (18.2 kg) from waist to chest height
Loading product of various amounts of completion to counters and quality control devices
o Overhead lift and reach (15 lbs.)
Handling of finished product
o Manipulation of drums to and from 6-inch pallets (up to 80 lbs. of force)
Push and pull ingredient canisters
Cleaning of Lab and equipment
o Utilizing hand held brushes, wands, hoses, and other cleaning utensils
