POSITION TITLE: Preschool for All Lead Teacher STATUS: Non-Exempt, FT GRADE: 4

DEPT: Early Childhood Services PROGRAM: Preschool for All Expansion

REPORTS TO: Education Manager SUPERVISES: N/A SALARY: $60,534


SUMMARY:

Provide a high quality-stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. Facilitate childrens development of good communication, attitudes, skills and knowledge to provide a good foundation for future success in school. Establish good relationships with parents and support them on their role in their childs development. Candidate must be enthusiastic, professional, dependable, warm, kind, creative individual who has experience and qualifications per the State of Illinois to work with children in an early childhood school setting.

ESSENTIAL responsibilities:

PFA/E Classroom:

  • Provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.
  • Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem solving appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of children.
  • Organize and provide developmentally appropriate early childhood education experiences.
  • Develop weekly Digital Creative Curriculum Lesson Plans.
  • Ensure lesson plans are complete and are aligned with the Early Learning Outcomes Framework and the Illinois Early Learning Standards.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of The Early Childhood School Readiness Plan.
  • Create an appropriate classroom setting according to ECERS-R and CLASS.
  • Provide appropriate multi-cultural classroom experiences.
  • Maintain in-depth understanding of safety procedures and conduct required safety drills as required by center director.
  • Create, plan, and effectively implement active supervision.
  • Assist with child transition plans.
  • Create and maintain a plan for Individualized Instruction for each child.
  • Maintain an understanding the IFSP and IEP and Referral Process.
  • Maintain open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging their involvement in the program.

Child Data Collection Maintenance:

  • Maintain current classroom records detailing childrens allergies, diets, and medicine.
  • Use COPA for daily attendance, meal count, service plans, and student interest inventories.
  • Enter child and teacher data into database and use this data to support school readiness goals and trends in classroom.
  • Keep organized child records in TSG.
  • Assess and document children using Teaching Strategies Gold, ASQ-SE, MEFS and any other assessments to increase child outcomes.
  • Through the use of data, provide mentorship and guidance to colleague teachers.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND MEETINGS:

  • Participate in the Annual Self-Assessment and Community Assessment.
  • Conduct two home visits per year with each parent.
  • Coordinate and conduct two parent/teacher conferences per year.
  • Through the use of data, provide mentorship, guidance, and coaching sessions to colleagues and teachers.
  • Provide support, training and technical assistance to staff regarding the planning and implementation of culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate curriculum and experiences.
  • Create a Personal Professional Development Plan.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) hours of professional training related to Early Childhood and/or to the responsibilities of the position is required annually.
  • Participate in center meetings.
  • Participate in YWCA Meetings as indicated by direct report.


OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned, whether for a project, special needs task or other assignment.


EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Bi-lingual Spanish Language an Asset, Meet Department of Children and Family Services Requirements for Licensure, Bachelor Degree with Level 5 Credential, Complete PEL within three years, completed degree from an accredited institution


CERTIFICATION(s) REQUIRED: Professional Educator License, Gateway Level 5, or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Candidate will have the ability to lift infants and toddlers weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds and be able to sit on floor, bend at waist, kneel and/or stoop 75% of the time.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday Friday 7:30 3:00 This position may require work on some after school meetings with parents or colleagues.
