GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

New England PET Imaging System is hiring a part time Nuclear Medicine PET/CT Technologist. Reporting to the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist, the Nuclear Medicine PET/CT Technologist performs clinical diagnostic PET scans along with the computer interactions associated with these studies. In addition, the technologist will be required to perform Computed Tomography imaging (attenuation correction only) as ordered in conjunction with PET exams. The NE PET Imaging System consists of fixed sites in Lowell and Methuen MA and a mobile unit currently traveling between Dover and Manchester, NH. This position will be scheduled to work 24-32 hours per week (day shift) and will be primarily based in in NH, but it is also expected to cover our MA sites when scheduled to do so. This position requires Saturday coverage at our Wentworth-Douglass location in Dover, NH for 1 shift per month (7:00am -3:00pm). On site training will be provided.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes daily QC testing of scanner and ancillary components (i.e., dose calibrator etc.)
  • Performs intra-venous peripheral catheter insertion as authorized by Nuclear Medicine physician for the administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Administers radiopharmaceuticals to patient and completes PET imaging.
  • The technologist will be required to perform Computed Tomography imaging (attenuation correction) as ordered in conjunction with PET exams.
  • Acquires/processes/reconstructs images when appropriate.
  • Maintains departmental records as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Consistently uses radiation safety techniques.
  • Ensures that correct protocol, radiation dose, and contrast are administered to patient for CT scanning, when ordered as such.
  • Follows Institutional/ Departmental guidelines for patient safety and patient care.
  • Interfaces and coordinates with appropriate front office staff as related to duties of the position.
  • Assists in on-the-job training of students as assigned.
  • Follows area policies/guidelines to perform imaging studies of superior technical quality.
  • Computer analysis of image data
  • Use of imaging systems including PET/CT scanner, radiation monitoring equipment
  • Excellent, effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50lbs, be able to, position, push or transfer patients, have manual dexterity and mobility, be able to see clearly at 20 feet or more, be able to see clearly at 20 inches or less, be able to judge distance and space relationships, be able to see peripherally, and be able to distinguish and identify different colors.
  • Ability to foster and promote a positive image and a professional appearance.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Your daily assignment will be to work as a team with at least one additional PET/CT technologist.
  • Fixed sites in Lowell and Methuen feature a dedicated PET/CT suite while the mobile unit is self-contained with separate Hot Lab, Control room and Scan room. Methuen site occasionally performs diagnostic CT. Lowell and Methuen sites have office staff to greet patients and facilitate check-in while the mobile unit works with host hospital Radiology departments.

EDUCATION:

  • BS degree in NM Technology preferred
  • Nuclear Medicine Certified through ARRT or NMTCB
  • NH Nuclear Medicine Technologist license
  • MA Nuclear Medicine Technologist license
  • MA Radiologic Technologist (CT) license a plus
  • AHA BLS for CPR and AED training

EXPERIENCE

  • Prefer 1-2 years’ experience in PET/CT imaging. Recent graduates considered

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
