Pet Groomer

Overview
Pet Doctors of America in Jacksonville, FL works in partnership with professional groomers to provide high quality grooming services from our facility. Pet Doctors of America brings to the partnership an established client base eager for the services of a groomer, a beautiful facility, high quality bathing and drying equipment and supplies, and a competent and helpful support staff. The clinic provides a dedicated grooming area with tables and cages, computerized record keeping and invoicing, bathing tubs with drying units, timed drying cages, shampoos, rinses, towels, office supplies and printing, marketing, telephone, liability insurance, a business license, and a support staff to help answer phones and schedule appointments. The clinic also offers full-time groomers health benefits, uniforms, a retirement plan, vacation time, and discounted veterinary services for personal pets. Pet Care Stylists associated with Pet Doctors of America are expected to provide consistently high quality bathing and grooming services, as their work reflects positively or negatively on Pet Doctors of America. Pet Care Stylists must:

• Have excellent communication skills and a strong dedication to outstanding client service.
• Be able to empathize with clients and remain compassionate and well-mannered under all circumstances.
• Have a firm belief in the quality of care provided at Pet Doctors of America and communicate this sense of assurance to our clients.
• Learn and understand our health requirements for pets boarded or groomed at the facility and be able to clearly communicate the importance of these to our clients.
• Have sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects, the dexterity and confidence to handle, bathe, and groom pets who may be scared or aggressive, and the ability to monitor pets for signs of distress or disease.

Providing for the comfort of pets and sanitation of the facility by keeping the grooming area clean and odor free is an essential part of the daily routine.
All employees are required to work at least one weekend day a week. Applicants must be able to pass a drug and background screening.
Responsibilities
Position Overview:
As a Pet Groomer you will work with our clients to ensure their pets are safely groomed, and healthy. You will be a highly skilled and experienced groomer, but also an excellent provider of customer service. You should be a passionate pet lover who is organized and enjoys a busy, fast-paced environment.
Tasks include:

• Bathing, drying, cleaning ears, deep brushing, de-matting, breed standard cuts, teeth brushing, nail trimming, and glands cleaning.
• Pet intake and discussing grooming process with clients at drop off, along with communicating to the clients regarding any issues that may arise.
• Recommend services based on the needs of the pet and give clients an estimate of the cost/time taken for the service.
• Consult with client after grooming about future grooming, health needs and additional recommendations.
• Clip and comb pet hair according to breed standards and required style.
• Monitor health and well-being of the pets during grooming.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years recent grooming experience.
• Must be able to safely handle all pets of all sizes and temperaments, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, and animal dander.

Schedules are full time, 35-40 hours a week. We are open M-F 7am-7pm, Sat 8am-5pm, and Sun 9am-5pm. After training is complete, schedules are set for several months at a time.
