Job Description

Western Nevada College is recruiting for a Personnel Technician 2 at the Carson City, NV campus location. The Personnel Technician 2 will provide support to the Human Resources Department and serve as the on-boarding specialist. The ideal candidate should be motivated to provide an outstanding onboarding experience and be creative in developing new procedures as needed to ensure that our new employees and student workers have the most up to date information in terms of employment, benefits, and any other campus-related information or upcoming events. Duties will include:

Onboarding Employees & Student Workers

Serves as the on-boarding specialist. As new or rehired employees or student workers complete the hire process and enter the onboarding phase in Workday, this position sets up the on-boarding appointments prior to their first day of work. Assist employees in logging into email and Workday for the first time. Guides employees through the on-boarding process within Workday. Conducts new hire orientation as part of the onboarding process to ensure that new employees have an outstanding incoming experience, to include answers questions regarding employment and benefits, and provides a tutorial of Workday employee self-service and time clock features. Ensures that I-9 employment eligibility requirements have been met. Upload documents into Workday. Process all employment/benefit enrollment forms to specific agencies and BCN. Work closely with the Financial Aid, Student Coordinator on all matters relating to the student awarding, hire approvals, and on-boarding process.

Training & Development

Serves as the training specialist. Communicates with supervisors and employees on mandatory training, issues and assigns training to faculty and staff at hire and as required and manages the training records in Workday. Will assist the HR Assistant Director with organizing the Employee Learning & Development week, manages the schedule, and confirms faculty and staff registrations for workshops.

Human Resources Office Support

Provide support to the department; general clerical duties, receptionist duties to front desk, answer HR and payroll questions, respond to general HR email questions, assist employees and supervisors through Workday business processes. Conduct employee verifications. Monitor office supply inventory. Provide support to other HR staff with special projects. Assist with all employee events; Employee Learning and Development week, Wellness and Benefit Fair, Employee Appreciation Week, Open Enrollment, Training Workshops, and other special projects as requested. Ensure compliance with applicable statutes, laws, rules, procedures, and guidelines. Serve on appropriate WNC committees.

Human Resources Website

Manage the HR website; provide updates as needed, upload documents. Update the website with training communication and event details. Work closely with the Digital Content Producer to ensure that the content within the HR webpage is up to date.

Record Management and Reporting

Managing employee files and training documentation in Workday, updating department forms, and submitting IT support tickets to make changes to our electronic forms on our webpage, including updates needed in the approval circulation process of electronic forms. Run and appropriately distribute scheduled reports in Workday.

Required Qualifications

This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and one (1) year of technical personnel/payroll experience; OR one (1) year of experience as a Personnel Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with experience with Workday, Excel and Microsoft Word are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and requires flexibility to work a varied schedule that may include an occasional evening; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
