Form of workPerforms specific personal fitness trainer duties to customers in support of the Maxwell/Gunter Fitness Center’s mission. The function of these facilities is a well-rounded fitness, sports and recreational program designed to enhance the morale and physical welfare of base personnel. Personal training is designed to enhance an individual’s overall fitness and wellness. The position is subject to uncommon tour of duty including holidays, weekends and nights.
Responsibilities
Incumbent will serve as a Personal Trainer coordinator who will maintain and operate this portion of the Fitness and Sports Center. Personal Trainer will act as program director for all fitness programs promoting a variety of vibrant fitness programs based on customer feedback and survey results. Develop, document and implement one-on-one workout programs that meets the needs and goals of clients. Incumbent will provide physical fitness assessments to Fitness Center Patrons. Maintain client files per Air Force and industry standards Provide safe and effective spotting techniques to clients Regularly inspect equipment and report any safety or maintenance needs Educate patrons and enforce policies regarding safe and proper use of equipment and facilities. Familiarize clients with safe and effective use of all cardiovascular, resistance, and free weight equipment. Manage all fitness equipment and assure that it is operational, clean, and presents a professional fitness image. Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency procedures Conducts group exercise and aerobics classes. Assists the Medical Group with developing fitness improvement plans for active duty members not meeting the minimum fitness standards. Conducts equipment orientation classes for Fitness Center Patrons. Trains fellow staff members on how to use the Fitness Equipment. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED plus one year of additional education and/or experience. Valid State Driver's License Current CPR/AED Certification Personal Trainer Certification (ACSM, ACE, AAPTE, NASM, NCSF, NESTA, NETA, NSCA, NFPT) or Air Force recognized organization Must attend and pass the US Air Forces Fitness Specialist Course within 180 days of hire. Experience Previous Personal Trainer experience highly desired; practical knowledge of recreation activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of recreational and fitness equipment desirable. Skills Excellent oral and written skills. Professional knowledge of the principles, theories and concepts and practice of physical fitness. Ability to develop programs in keeping with the trends and needs of the facility users. Demonstrate ability to be highly organized and possess strong planning skills. Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements. • Knowledge of exercise machinery and all phases of fitness training • Computer skills desirable
