Montecito Bank & Trust is seeking a part-time Personal Banker II Float (PB II Float) to join the team. The PB II Float will be assigned to our La Cumbre Branch as the “home branch” and cover territory from Hollister to Carpinteria. The Personal Banker II Float will deliver a World Class Experience by acting as the single point of contact for walk-in customers: fulfilling sales, service, and referral needs. This position requires sales and operational responsibilities. The PBII Float will have a thorough understanding of the customer’s transaction requirements and be able to effectively communicate all available options to them. They will educate customers about the Bank’s products and services matching the customer needs. They will maintain all expectations of proper cash handling, new accounts production and maintenance and will work on the teller line and on the sales platform as assigned.

The PBII Float position will service our customer’s variety of over the counter cash and negotiable transactions. They will also be cross-trained in service, sales, and operational responsibilities so they can provide capacity on the platform as required in the Branch. Job duties on the platform will include but are not limited to: maintaining, servicing and opening accounts; discussing loan options and taking loan applications; referrals to other lines of business. Incumbent must be adept at identifying and resolving customer issues and challenges.

The PBII Float works as part of the branch team to ensure individual and branch goals are met. While assigned to a “home branch”, the PBII Float must be able to report to any branch as needed and provide own reliable transportation.


Minimum Requirements, Activities, & Responsibilities

Education and Experience:

  • High school degree required; college degree preferred
  • Must have at minimum one-year Personal Banker experience or commensurate sales experience and six months previous point of sales experience, previous teller experience preferred

Essential Functions:

  • With a good understanding of the bank products/services and the customer’s current relationship, offers information on bank products and services that can benefit the customer and enhance their banking relationship.
  • Successfully executes manager developed sales plan
  • Accurately operates network computers/software, and other equipment necessary to open new accounts, maintenance required for existing accounts and handle financial transactions
  • Assists in the acquisition of consumer and small business loan relationships; accepts consumer and small business loan applications and closes loans as directed by management
  • Identifies and refers cross-sell opportunities as appropriate to customer requirements
  • Handles a variety of cash and negotiable transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Responds to customer inquiries and requests regarding bank products
  • Provides professional resolution to customer inquiries and/or problems
  • Provides a World Class Experience for all clients
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate highest levels of customer service and confidentiality with internal and external customers
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in an interactive and dynamic team environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and customer service skills
  • Strong sales skills
  • Ability to accurately handle large amounts of currency
  • Strong knowledge of standard computer applications including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to lead by example in a team setting and work independently while performing duties
  • Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Must be able to perform this position safely, without endangering the health or safety to himself or herself or others
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance
  • Must be able to work effectively either independently or as part of a team
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities
  • Must be able to demonstrate highest levels of customer service and confidentiality with internal and external customers
  • Able to successfully complete of the Bank’s CSR and PB training programs
  • Able to be certified as a Notary Public
  • Strong Math aptitude
