Perry County Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault Advocates And Counselors

The YWCA Greater Harrisburg, Perry County Office, is actively seeking two-full Crisis Advocates and Counselors to join our team. Crisis Advocacy roles at the YWCA Greater Harrisburg assist in creating just communities with the purpose of improving the quality of life of the individuals we serve. Trained professional staff provide a range of human and social services for victims of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE and SEXUAL ASSAULT. These roles provide essential time-limited intervention to immediately stabilize those in crisis and follow survivors with supportive services as they heal and recover. Advocates provide crisis intervention, office and school-based empowerment counseling, legal accompaniments, community advocacy response, information and referrals, and outreach to the community. Knowledge of the Perry County community and resources a must. These positions are 37.5 hour work weeks with exceptional benefits.

Associate's degree in human services or related field with prior-related work experience; Bachelor's degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the following competencies and skills:

• Ability to work independently, utilizing sound judgment and following departmental procedures;
• Ability to respond to crisis situations in a professional manner
• Ability to balance assigned tasks and priorities on a daily basis
• Advanced communication skills (written and verbal), proven de-escalation skills, interpersonal skills and time management skills
• Relationship building and networking experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)
• Valid driver's license, clean driving history and reliable personal vehicle. Proof of insurability may also be required.
• Current FBI, criminal and child abuse clearances or the ability to obtain required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week
