Job description

Overview

This position in the Division of Family and Child Health is ideal for those interested in ensuring Vermont's birthing people have access to clinical and community services through the full perinatal period. You will be integral to the Maternal Mortality Review Panel (MMRP), a multidisciplinary team tasked with reviewing deaths of Vermont's perinatal people and creating recommendations for prevention. This position will support the MMRP through grant administration and reporting, performing administrative functions, and supporting the development of panel protocols and procedures. Additionally, you'll collaborate with state and community partners to develop a sustainable system of equitable care for perinatal people with substance use disorders (SUD) and provide grant management for the Overdose Data to Action funding. This position will also serve as a content expert for perinatal SUD prevention.


This position is a hybrid work position, the employees and supervisor will create a schedule combining in person and remote work. This is a Limited Services position with the expectation the funding for the position will be extended through at least 2028.


Examples of work include:
  • Build, maintain, or lead community partnerships
  • Pilot new strategies to improve services for perinatal people with SUD.
  • Assist with federal grant management activities.
  • Support evaluation and data collection efforts for perinatal SUD programming.
  • Develop and administer subgrants and/or contracts and provide consultation and technical assistance to organizations.
  • Identify strategies for equity and inclusion in programs and initiatives.

This position, Perinatal Public Health Specialist III - Limited Service (Job Requisition #49754), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in both a standard office and field settings. Private means of transportation must be available for required travel. Stress may be anticipated in dealing with emotional situations involving application of programs, especially in dealing with families and in the allocation of program resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years or more of experience in Public Health, human services, emergency response, community engagement, program administration, human services related fields or health-related fields.

OR

Associate degree in Public Health, public administration, business administration, environmental science, emergency response, human services, social work, social sciences related fields or health-related fields and three (3) years or more of experience in Public Health, human services, emergency response, community engagement, program administration, human services related fields or health-related fields.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, public administration, business administration, environmental science, emergency response, human services, social sciences related fields or health-related fields and two (2) years or more of experience in Public Health, human services, emergency response, community engagement, program administration, human services related fields or health-related fields.

OR

Master’s degree in Public Health, public administration, business administration, environmental science, emergency response, human services, social sciences related fields or health-related fields and one (1) year or more of experience in Public Health, human services, emergency response, community engagement, program administration, human services related fields or health-related fields.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as Public Health Specialist II.
