Job description

The Product Development Co-Op position is designed to support key engineering projects for the braking product development team.  The position works directly with the engineering team and interfaces with production.

 

  • Manufacturing industrialization and optimization
  • Raw material characterization and research

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Test raw materials using analytical lab equipment
    • DSC
    • TGA
    • SEM/EDS
    • FTIR
    • Rheometer
  • Run trials to optimize pressing operations
    • Work with engineering to optimize pressing temperatures
    • Thermocouple press trials
  • Assist in running new product validation trials
    • Collect data from pressing trials such as temperature, density, hardness
    • Report trial data to engineering in Excel format
  • Inspect, label and ship prototype parts for testing
    • Inspect prototype pads for defects
    • Label and ship pads to dyno test lab
    • Communicate clearly what is shipped, when and what the purpose is

 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled and pursing a degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry

Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Materials Science will also be considered

  • Sophomore status or higher
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Clear communication
  • Self motivated

 

Working conditions

No allergy to nuts.  Must be able to work in a hot environment. Steel toed safety shoes, hearing protection and ear protection required in designated areas.

Physical requirements

Light lifting, standing on production floor.  Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen.
