Job description

The Event Setup Crew Member performs work involved with the delivery, setup, and breakdown of assigned catering events. The position requires performing a mixture of entry level maintenance and custodial type activities, including but not limited to, setting up and breaking down tables, moving audio/visual equipment, assisting in setting up tablecloths and/or event décor, general cleaning and sanitizing, mopping and sweeping. At times this position may also be assigned the task of picking up or delivering supplies or furniture using a company vehicle and/or company catering trailer. The position is required to collaborate with other catering, center, and facility personnel, and volunteers and will assist in maintaining proper safety, sanitation, and quality standards.

Duties

• This is a Per Diem position. Weekend and after-hours work may be required.
• Executes a wide variety of room and space setups based on established floorplans.
• Works independently on simple events or as part of a larger Setup Crew for more complex events.
• Estimates equipment needs, reviews inventory to assure that adequate supplies are available, and assists with maintaining needed inventory.
• Completes assigned setup activities to have spaces prepared at scheduled times.
• Organizes equipment inventory and supplies and verifies all items are properly cleaned and organized for quality assurance.
• Operates agency vehicles and tow-behind trailer when assigned.
• Assists with all set up and breakdown duties for catered events/banquets. Able to determine needs of events and secures items to ensure quality service to customers.

Skills

• Ability to read and write the English language to follow simple written and oral instructions.
• Strong organizational skills, able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and able to effectively work within time parameters.
• Ability to effectively problem solve in any number of diverse situations without supervision.
• Experience driving full-sized vans and towing trailers highly desirable. Ability and willingness to learn is required.

Requirements

• High School graduate or GED.
• Must possess a current and valid Maine Motor Vehicle license.
• Must possess current Motor Vehicle General Liability insurance.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

The work may require considerable physical exertion such as periods of standing, climbing ladders, lifting heavy object over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, and repetitive motions and the lifting/carrying of objects.
