Job description

Job Description

Fort Collins Heating & Air has been a fixture in Northern Colorado since 1934–back when Fort Collins had about 11,000 residents. Few businesses in this area have been that long. You could say that excellent leadership over four generations is the reason. It’s been more than personality though. It has more to do with our values of Leadership, Excellence, Trust, Ethics, and Community that are the mark of how those four generations have led. Over the years, we’ve received numerous awards and recognitions. You can find out more us at https://fortcollinsheating.com.

We’re currently a team of 75. We are growing and plotting our course to that proverbial “next level,” and see ourselves growing to about 125 in the next few years. To build that kind of team and hold tightly to our culture and values, we are searching for a People and Culture Manager. This role will be responsible for conventional HR duties such as recruiting, onboarding, salary administration, coordination of training and development, administration of safety and workers’ compensation, offboarding. What makes our job unique is the unconventional and proactive ways we expect the job to be performed.

Rather than just recruiting to fill open jobs, we expect our People and Culture Manager to work with our Operations Team to understand future staffing needs and then determine the best ways to build the team to meet the needs of our growing business. Rather than just having new employees fill out some paperwork and take a tour, we expect our People and Culture Manager to inspire new team members, enlisting them in our culture and values. Rather than just knowing the pulse of team morale, we expect our People and Culture Manager to take every conventional HR practice and use those to reinforce our culture and values. In other words, we’re expecting a strategic partner for our leaders, managers, and team.

We expect our People and Culture Manager to Possess:

  • Education typically acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree in Business; HR certification preferred;
  • At least five years experience in an HR/OD management role, preferably in the trades;
  • A passion for continuous improvement and the ability to instill that in others;
  • A love for data, metrics, and analysis along with the ability to make the business case for new projects;
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with the inherent understanding of when and how to most effectively communicate; and
  • The ability to inspire others to action without line authority.

This will not be the right opportunity for those who:

  • Are content with the status quo;
  • Like to say “no,” rather than explain how;
  • Lack self-accountability and humility;
  • Lack the confidence necessary to lead and inspire others;
  • Have a default setting of caution, rather than a curiosity about what the future could hold;
  • Can’t anticipate the unspoken and often unanticipated future needs of a business owner, management, and team; and
  • Don’t naturally fit with our culture, values, and priorities.

Expected Salary - $75,000 - $90,000 depending on experience.
