Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

The People & Culture Partner is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in their assigned client groups. The position serves as a consultant and trusted advisor to management on People & Culture related issues, as well as acts as an employee champion and change agent. The role assesses and anticipates People & Culture related needs and demontrates sound judgement and critical thinking skills. The People & Culture Partner communicates and collaborates on employee and/or business group needs proactively with the People & Culture department subject matter experts and to leadership team. The position formulates partnerships across the People & Culture function to deliver value added service to management and employees in alignment with Pattern’s KPI’s and mission, vision and values. 

Duties and Key Accountabilities

  • Business Alignment - Serve as HR point of contact across client groups. Participate in business group meetings on a regular basis to develop trusted relationships and maintain an in depth understanding of the business as a strategic partner. Help employees and business groups align their goals with business objectives. Partner with management to develop methods and programs to achieve measurable improvements in employee engagement and business performance. Advise on organizational design/workforceplanning by partnering with management on restructuring, promotions, compensation, internal movements, and succession planning to promote the development of effective teams and departmental growth.. Lead business groups through change management.
  • Employee Relations and Performance Management - Provide performance management guidance to management and senior leadership through coaching, counseling, career development, resource sharing and disciplinary action as a trusted advisor and partner. Manage and resolve simple to complex employee relation issues in partnership with management/leadership. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations in partnership with the legal counsel as needed. Pinpoint skill gaps and develop training programs to support people development.
  • Employee Engagement - Develop relationships with employees to understand their motivations and challenges. Lead collaboration with management and HR group to foster a work environment that keeps employee focused and productive. Manage employee feedback programs and action planning through various methods, including developing and creating surveys/analyzing and reporting on feedback, leading the company Employee Engagement Task Force, and leading HR round tables with HR SME's.  Present recommendations for company KPI's to leadership.
  • HR Programs - Strategic planning, development and project management/execution of HR programs. Align programs (new and existing) to KPI's, organizational needs and mission, and engagement initaitives. Full cycle project management to ensure program success.  Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR group to develop and enhance solutions, programs and processes that address current problems and avoid future ones. Understand the compensation and rewards programs, and help managers communicate effectively to employees. Partner and collaborate with other HR functions to ensure that the programs in place are effective and efficient for assigned business groups.
  • Compliance - Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Provide guidance to leadership and client groups in compliance with employment laws and best practices. Support compliance efforts inlcuidng but not limited to payroll, benefits, and immigration, while maintaining alignment to Pattern’s mission, vision and values.
  • Internal Collaboration/Communication - Actively participate in People & Culture Team meetings and help provide solutions for both business group and company-wide challenges. Partner with HR SME's to drive employee enagement and HR programs
Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, a degree in a business administration or Human Resources related area is preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years of experience in a HR Generalist/Business Partner/Employee Relations role. 
  • Experience as a subject matter expert in one or more HR functions.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies and practices, and interest in gaining a thorough understanding of employment law in geographic areas of responsibility.
  • Excellent communications, project management, and time management skills.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; Excellent internet research skills.
  • Prior experience with application tracking systems, onboarding, HRIS, and performance management software/platforms preferred.
  • Basic aptitude in arithmetic, and ability to present numerical data effectively when needed.

The expected starting pay range for this role is $103,000 - $139,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits, family care benefits, employee assistance program, paid time off and bonding leave, paid holidays, 401(k)/RRSP retirement savings plan with employer contribution, and employee referral bonuses.
