Clarity HR Solutions is partnered with Parents Anonymous Inc. to find a passionate candidate to fill their MediCal Peer Support Specialist Trainer. This position does require you to be in the Los Angeles area. There are part-time and full-time positions available for this position.

FT: up to 40 hours Per Week, Hourly, Schedue: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

PT: up to 24 hours Per Week, Hourly, Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 12:00pm

PT: up to 24 hours Per Week, Hourly, Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1:00pm to 5:00pm

PT: up to 24 hours Per Week, Schedule: Monday – Friday, 5:30pm to 9:30pm

About the Position

Parents Anonymous® Inc. is looking for a seasoned Training professional who can teach and develop coursework with a significant background in Peer Support as a Peer Support Specialist and/or Peer Support Specialist Trainer (Experience in both is PREFERRED). The training is provided online, in-person, or hybrid. The objectives of the training are two-fold: 1) to train participants to become Peer Support Specialists; and, 2) ensure participants are trained well enough to pass the Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification exam given by the state of California. The Trainer will also be responsible for the development of additional specialization modules to accompany the Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Training including for Parents, Unhoused, Crisis, and Justice System Involved.

The full-time position(s) will report to and create a work schedule with the Program Manager. The Full-Time position will provide training, update the curriculum as needed, work with participants upon enrollment and during training, assist in all activities related to training, participate in outreach activities as assigned by the Program Manager to recruit participants, work with the development of on-demand training, and other duties as directed by the Program Manager.

The part-time position(s) MUST work in one of the schedules noted above and report to the Program Manager. Total Part-time trainers will primarily be responsible for training and other duties as determined by the Program Manager.

This role requires an enthusiastic, proactive person who is organized, punctual, collaborative, and values the exchange of information. You must like helping people to achieve their personal goals.

Specific Job Duties

  • Engage in outreach activities to recruit diverse Parents, Children & Youth up to 25.
  • Attend 40 hours of Parents Anonymous® Training.
  • Attend 80 hours of training and pass the Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification exam.
  • Maintain a S.M.A.R.T. Task List with measurable results tied to contract requirements.
  • Document all Peer Support activities daily.
  • Understand the requirements of participants to become a Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist.
  • Recruit participants to enroll in the training.
  • Train the curriculum that is approved by CalMHSA.
  • Update tracking documents.
  • Ensure participants fill out demographic surveys before or during the training.
  • Keep daily attendance of participants.
  • Support participants in learning to tell their story and how it supports being a Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist.
  • Scheduled weekly supervision with Program Manager.
  • Keep a daily updated calendar, schedule, and task list.
  • Participate in outreach activities as requested by the Program Manager.

Job Requirements

  • YOU MUST BE A PEER. You must verify that you are a peer (with lived experience): A Peer is an individual who is self-identified as having experience with the process of recovery from a mental illness or substance use disorder, either as a consumer of these services or as the parent, caregiver or family member of a consumer and be willing to share their experience. In addition, the following are also REQUIREMENTS of the job as a Trainer:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Bilingual (ENGLISH & SPANISH) a plus.
  • Must have at least a high school diploma or GED. A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Must be fully vaccinated with at least one booster and possess proof of vaccination.
  • Must embrace and reflect the Mission, Vision, and Principles of Parents Anonymous® Inc.
  • Must embrace the philosophy and theory of change of Parent Anonymous® including mutual support, parent leadership, shared leadership®, and personal growth and change.
  • Must have well-developed computer skills and be proficient in the use of PowerPoint slides, Word, and Excel.
  • Must be a Quick learner, high intelligence, passionate, and team player.
  • Must be culturally responsive, responsible, and seek assistance from supervisor when work challenges arise.
  • Must have smartphone.
  • Must have a working vehicle and a valid driver’s license.

Pay Range: $28.00- 32.00/HR based on relevant experience.
