Community Options is looking for a highly motivated Peer Support for our rapidly growing team. This position involving sharing personal and practical experience, knowledge, and first-hand insight to benefit service users. With this position, services are delivered by trained and certified individuals in mental health or substance use recovery that promote hope, self-determination, and skills to achieve long-term recovery in the community. Peer Support Services are community-based. Work will be done primarily in the individual's home and community. The Peer Support will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The Peer Support must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships. Individuals must understand and respect each client’s unique path to recovery.

The salary for this position is $15-$17 an hour depending on experience (DOE).

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma/G.E.D. and 3 letters of recommendations
• Must have worked within the last three years with at least 12 months total of successful or part or full time paid or voluntary work experience and have acquired
• Successful completion of the Department of Human Services (DHS) approved Certified Peer Specialist training and certification exam or the ability to obtain the certificate within the first 3 months of employment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health services and supports or community resources
• Good oral and written communication skills; good organization skills
• Successfully pass background check and drug test
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance for the vehicle subject to the statute of the licensing state will be required based on assigned job duties
