We are currently looking for a Recovery Coach to join our State Hospital South team. This position will be based out of Blackfoot and is a benefited, temporary, part-time position working 24 hours a week.

The successful candidate will either be a certified Peer Recovery coach (CPRC), certified recovery coach (CRC), provisional certified Peer Recovery coach (PCPRC), provisional certified recovery coach (PCRC), or be eligible to gain one of these certifications. If the successful candidate has not yet had this training, we will provide it after hire.

The types of Recovery Coach Certifications are as follows: 

Certified Peer Recovery Coaches (CPRC) are self-identified persons in recovery who have a high school diploma or GED, have 500 hours of paid or volunteer Recovery Support experience (including supervision hours), have completed 46 hours of education/training related to the CPRC domains, and also meet required illicit drug/alcohol abstinence requirements per the IBADCC CPRC Eligibility Criteria. 

Certified Recovery Coaches (CRC) are individuals who have a high school diploma or GED, have 500 hours of paid volunteer Recovery Support experience (including supervision hours), and have completed 46 hours of education/training related to the CPRC domains per the IBADCC CRC Eligibility Criteria. 

Provisional Certified Peer Recovery Coaches (PCPRC) are self-identified persons in recovery who have a high school diploma or GED, and have completed 46 hours of education/training related to the PCPRCs domains and also meet required illicit drug/alcohol abstinence requirements per the IBADCC PCPRC Manual and Application Forms. This provisional certification requires no upfront experience, but allows the certified individual to work toward their 500 hours of paid volunteer Recovery Support experience (including supervision hours) for the CPRC certification. PCPRCs have one year from the date their application is selected to complete the required experience and take the required exam. Additional information regarding requirements and timelines are in the IBADCC PCPRC Manual and Application Forms.

Being eligible to be CPRS, CRC, PCPRC, or PCRC involves:

  • Being in sustained recovery from a substance use disorder for 2 years or more.
  • Having a high school diploma or GED.
  • A desire to be a personal guide/mentor for people seeking recovery or in early recovery.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. Any applicant offered employment in this position at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test. Additionally, applicants will be required to pass a background investigation after a conditional offer of employment. If applicants are not able to pass a background investigation, a waiver process may be available. 

Temporary positions are limited to working 1,385 hours in a 12-month period for any one state agency. Employees are eligible for benefits if they work twenty (20) hours or more per week and the term of employment is expected to exceed five (5) continuous months.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Provide coaching and mentoring in individual and/or group settings.
  • Provide recovery, education, and support to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness and/or substance addictions.
  • Provide support services to adult clients in a variety of settings.
  • Instruct clients in problem-solving, daily living, self-management, and connecting with community supports.
  • Monitor client goals, achievements, and agreements; make progress notes.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Guide clients in completing documents necessary to implement services; explain applicable laws, policies, and procedures to clients.
  • Collect client data and provide information and/or arrange for support services such as medical care, legal assistance, housing, employment, and other private and public community resources.
  • Incumbents may be required to work evenings or weekends as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position.

  • Certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Coach, Provisional Certified Peer Recovery Coach, Certified Recovery Coach, or Provisional Certified Recovery Coach in Idaho OR eligible to become certified within one year of appointment.
