The Peer Navigator Supervisor (PNS) is a full-time, exempt position of Denver Rescue Mission (DRM) which must agree with and abide by our Statement of Faith and Ministry Principles. In addition, all employees must comply with policies as summarized in the DRM Employee Handbook. 


The PNS reports to the Associate Director of Housing Stability. The PNS is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Peer Navigators employed by Denver Rescue Mission. The PNS brings items of concern to the attention of the Associate Director of Housing Stability. The PNS will be instrumental in assisting the Peer Navigator team in connecting participants with information and connection to Next Step Case managers. The PNS will assist in the coordination of efforts between the Peer Navigator team and other DRM staff, directed by the Shelter Director.  


Hiring Range:   $50,000-$62,500 annually, based on qualifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

General Duties

  • Foster a culture of grace amongst staff that orients them around the mission of meeting individuals at their physical and spiritual points of need.
  • Initiate and maintain good relations with all DRM departments, including the coordination of efforts between the Peer Navigator team and other DRM staff.
  • Maintain the relationships necessary to ensure DRM's Peer Navigation efforts reflect a real-time understanding of broader re-housing efforts, protocols availability, and requirements.
  • Provide direct oversight to the Peer Navigators at Denver Rescue Mission, providing leadership and direction and enforce protocols and expectations.
  • Ensure adherence to process, procedures and record keeping and reporting for the Peer Navigator team.
  • Ensure the Peer Navigator team maintains confidentiality and professional boundaries when dealing with Participants and Participant's information.
  • Able to manage a caseload as well as supervise.

Core Areas of Responsibility

  • Take a leadership role at Peer Navigator meetings including weekly DRM Peer Navigator Team Meeting
  • Monitor Peer Navigators active role in engaging clients as outlined by the Associate Director of Housing Stability for services and events.
  • Provide oversight of Peer Navigators including advising on difficult cases, auditing of Case Notes, implementation of Policies and Procedure. 
  • Assist the Associate Director of Housing Stability with implementation and training of HMIS, ensuring that staff is actively pursuing credentials and keeping them up to date.
  • Assist in the development of SCRIBE and HMIS to develop and improve Peer Navigator needs and use, and provide oversight to the team's use of SCRIBE, HMIS and OneHome
  • Enforce Peer Navigator policies and written agreements and expectations.
  • Work with Peer Navigators to develop effective processes to make contact with those that are new to the shelter environment within 10 days of shelter entry and record these interactions.
  • Monitor staff outreach guests for the outreach list.
  • Assist case management team in providing support to guests connecting to resources.
  • Provide information on Next Step, NLP and STAR opportunities to those accessing shelter.
  • Administrate all case management records and documents in SCRIBE and HMIS as appropriate, providing SCRIBE / HMIS reports as needed.

Other 

  • Attend weekly meetings with key staff members that promote collaboration.
  • Represent the Mission at meetings and on committees as directed.
  • Communicate with the public through speaking arrangements, community meetings, interview, etc.
  • Perform other tasks, participate in project.  

Requirements

  • Must possess a BA/BS degree, preferably in human services, social work or related field, or a comparable combination of experience and education.
  • One-year experience in working in urban setting with low-income populations, with an understanding of Case Work as it relates to the population.
  • Lived experience in homelessness as defined by HUD- preferred.
  • Proven ability to maintain composure during stressful situations.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Clear communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to manage conflict with and between, subordinates, peers, and superiors, expeditiously and respectfully 
  • Track-record of work with low-income, homeless and/or indigent individuals and families.
