Job Summary:
A Pediatric Occupational Therapist at SportsCare specializes in working with children to improve their physical, cognitive, and sensory skills, helping them develop the necessary skills to engage in activities of daily living and participate in sports and recreational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine a child's specific needs, strengths, and areas of concern. This may involve observing the child's motor skills, sensory processing, cognitive abilities, and emotional well-being.
Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans and goals for each child, in collaboration with the child's family and other healthcare professionals. These plans should be tailored to address the child's unique challenges and support their development.
Therapeutic Interventions: Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, which may include activities to improve fine and gross motor skills, sensory integration techniques, adaptive strategies, and cognitive rehabilitation. Use evidence-based techniques and activities to achieve therapeutic goals.
Family and Caregiver Education: Educate and train parents, guardians, and caregivers on strategies and exercises to support the child's progress at home and in their daily routines.
Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including pediatricians, physical therapists, speech therapists, and others to ensure coordinated care for the child.
Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and document the child's progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
Advocacy: Advocate for the needs of children with developmental challenges and work to improve their access to services and support.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough records of each child's assessment, treatment, and progress.
Continuing Education: Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in Pediatric Occupational therapy to provide the best care for your young patients.
Communication: Communicate effectively with children, their families, and other team members, and provide emotional support and encouragement to both the child and their caregivers.
Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- Specialized training or certification in Pediatric Occupational therapy may be preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to work effectively with children and their families.
- Knowledge of child development, anatomy, and various therapeutic techniques.
- The ability to adapt and be creative in developing treatment plans for individual children.
