Location: Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii

Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Schedule: 12 hour shifts, 80 hours every two weeks; rotating nights, weekends, and holidays

Pay Rate: $59.73 per hour

Contract Health Care Professionals (HCPs) shall perform essentially the same services as those required by any Army or Government service HCP of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Therefore, while specific tasks are outlined as listed below, responsibilities include but are not necessarily inclusive of tasks in which the HCP shall provide.

All services shall be performed in accordance with established principles, practices, and ethics of the medical, and specialty professions/organizations. The standards of performance for all HCP provided by contractor shall reflect the degree of care, skill, and learning expected of a reasonably prudent Registered Nurse – PICU.

Required Qualification:

  • Degree/Education: Must be a graduate of a nursing program accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and National League for Nursing. If candidate is an international nurse graduate from jurisdictions other the U.S., must possess a valid certification for Full Education Course-by-Course Report by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Schools.
  • Experience: Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse with at least one (1) year of experience within the last three years of PICU experience.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse
  • Certifications: Must hold current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Job Responsibilities. Registered Nurse – PICU’s areas of responsibility shall include but not necessarily be limited to the following.

  • Able to perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, mizing and administering special, potent and potentially lethal drugs (ie. Atropine, dopamine, dobutamine) based on weight.
  • Perform various pulmonary ventilation treatments such as administration of oxygen through various invasive and noninvasive means.
  • Assist physician with complex and potential life-threatening procedures such as cardioversion, insertion of central lines and intubation.
  • Operate and monitor highly complex technical equipment such as hemodynamic Monitoring devices, ventilators, oxygen monitors, etc.
  • Provide patient and family teaching and counseling to possible reaction to medications, health maintenance and illness prevention.
  • Manage nursing care of the patient on multiple medications and technical equipment, complete through assessments and determine abnormalities, make decisions and take corrective action immediately.
  • Possess the knowledge of wide range of nursing care principles and procedures required to perform highly specialized nursing assignments to assess the needs of the critically ill infant, child, adolescent and teenage patient.
  • May be required to work on Pediatric Wards/Clinics
