PSV has an exciting employment opportunity for an experienced Pediatric Infusion Nurses to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals! We are currently looking for candidates interested in working Full-Time or PRN. Clinic hours vary between 7:30am - 5:00pm.

Overview:
PSV Infusion Nurses are responsible for initiating and maintaining intravenous lines and tubing, preparing and administering medication and fluid therapies and monitoring the patient’s response to the prescribed infusion. PSV Infusion Nurses work closely with providers from various pediatric specialties within PSV. PSV’s ideal applicant is a Registered Nurse with specialized training and/or recent experience in Pediatric Infusion therapy who excels in compassionate patient care and communication skills.

Job Description:

• Performs all aspects of patient care in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary infusion room.
• Provides comprehensive nursing assessment of patients before, during and after completion of infusions.
• Establishes IV access for infusion patients, monitors IV and documents all actions and assessments appropriately in EMR.
• Prepares and administers IV therapies per physician orders.
• Confirms Prior Authorization approval and procures medications from pharmacy in advance of patient appointments.
• Anticipates and proactively plans for educational needs of patients and families.
• Excels in organizational skills, adjusts for changes and is able to complete assignments on time.
• Delegates appropriately to PSV medical assistants to ensure effective patient monitoring and care.
• Role models caring in all encounters with patients and families, as evidenced by feedback from parents and an increase in patient satisfaction scores.
• Creates a calming and positive environment to ensure patient is comfortable during treatment.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• Graduated from an approved school of nursing (BSN preferred)
• Valid licensure in the state of Virginia as a Registered Nurse
• Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
• Recent experience in a specialty involving infusion therapy, including patient assessment and venous access experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations for a pediatric population
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• All employees must pass an employment TB, drug and physical exam
