Reports to: Director of Athletics and Physical Education and LS Division Head
Position Summary: The Lovett School is seeking a full-time, teacher-coach with a strong passion and background in physical education to work as part of a team of four (4) coaches to support the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth of our students. As a teacher-coach, you may work with children in grades K-5 or 6-8, support other key school needs throughout the day, coach two (2) sports in the Middle or Upper School, and other tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletics
and Physical Education or School Administration.
In addition to the core responsibilities, the Lovett School values expertise in sports coaching. Therefore, a strong preference will be given to candidates who can also take on the role of an open coaching position. Open positions for the 24-25 school year include head and assistant positions in Football, Fall Cheer, Volleyball, Softball, Cross Country, Basketball (Boys & Girls), Winter Cheer, Wrestling, Swim & Dive, Baseball, Soccer (Boys & Girls), Lacrosse (Boys & Girls), Track and Field, Tennis (Boys & Girls), Golf (Boys & Girls), and Gymnastics.

Primary Responsibilities:
Embrace and impart Lovett’s Core Values
Cultivate a classroom culture that facilitates student voice, compassion for others, and a whole-child approach
Develop curriculum and age-appropriate PE classes
Coach two or more athletic seasons throughout the school year
Provide effective feedback for students and continually monitor student progress
Collaborate with colleagues within and outside of the department and/or grade level on curriculum development
Foster a positive parent-school relationship with the Lovett families
Communicate student progress to families through report cards, parent-teacher conferences, and other touchpoints as needed
Engage in faculty and team meetings and ongoing professional development during the school year and summer
Attend weekly chapel, Open House, faculty in-service days, parent-teacher conferences, designated school-sponsored events, and professional development days
Fulfill other School duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, or a related field
Ability to become CPR / First Aid / Lifeguard certified
Experience teaching/coaching children
Ability to lift 50 pounds or more without asking for assistance
Preferred:
Two (2) years of experience teaching Physical Education
Experience coaching multiple sports or working as a Certified Strength and Conditioning
