PC Hardware Editor for XDA-Developers.com

This position will operate on a remote, freelance basis. Candidates must reside in the U.S. or Canada for shipping purposes.

XDA is looking for an experienced PC Hardware Editor with specialized knowledge of PCs and PC parts to join their team!

The XDA team is constantly scouring the Internet for the latest computing news, sharing tips, tricks, tutorials, and videos, reviewing devices, apps, and games.

The PC Hardware Editor role is an integral part of XDA, reporting directly to the Editor-in-Chief. They are primarily responsible for editing and providing direction on articles that fall under the PC Hardware vertical, while ensuring that deadlines are met and that each article meets our strict quality expectations. 

Job Responsibilities

Content Planning:

• Utilize SEO, traffic, and industry research to create content plans in collaboration with the Content Partner.
• Work with editors to optimize content ideas across all content types (evergreen, news, features, reviews, commerce).
• Generate EDIs (Editorial Ideas) for content development.

Training and Development:

• Work with training lead to transition new writers from training program to regular workflow.
• Provide support and mentorship to editorial staff.

Content Direction and Quality Control:

• Guide XDA’s team of writers  to maintain content alignment with segment goals.
• Perform quality assurance on all articles (news, buyer’s guides, features, tutorials) under the PC Hardware vertical, enforcing XDA’s strict guidelines and standards
• Triage and assign content updates using various resources such as internal update reports and SEO tools.
• Keep a vigilant eye on content output and post-publish article performance, offering editing and feedback where necessary.
• Monitor section traffic and key performance indicators (KPIs) for data-driven decision-making.

Industry Expertise:

• Stay up-to-date with industry/section-specific trends and news to inform content decisions.
• Establish new and utilize existing relationships with key industry players to stay ahead of the news and reviews cycle.

Collaboration and Meetings:

• Attend relevant meetings to stay informed and share insights.
• Work closely with the EIC, Content Partner, and Product Manager to ensure the segment meets crucial KPIs, aligns with the CIP (Content Implementation Plan) and stays within budget.

Additional Tasks:

• Handle other miscellaneous tasks as needed.
• Write and edit when necessary.

• Relevant experience in editing in the English language
• Expert knowledge of PC and PC parts
• Comfortable using a non-basic CMS
• Full-time availability on a freelance basis
• Must be located in the US or Canada
