Position Summary

Dedicated to customersatisfaction, the PC and Network Support Technician assists with the service,repair, distribution and installation of electronic devices &software.  This position uses thehelpdesk system to assist customers, request acquisitions, document work, troubleshootissues and create reports.  This positionis responsible for repair, installation and maintenance of all network devices& electronic infrastructure.  Thisperson also assists with electronic medical records access, access control,audiovisual support, problem resolution and change management processes.

 

Essential Functions

  • Providecustomer service and support.
  • Installand maintain equipment, cabling & network devices.
  • Install,maintain and monitor software.
  • Analyzeproblems and research solutions.
  • Respondsto helpdesk requests.
  • Documentand communicate problems, solutions, & the implementation process.
  • Trainusers in the basic and advanced use of hardware & software programs.
  • Assistsstaff with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) access.

 

Job Role Expectations

  • Completesall assigned tasks and training by assigned deadline.
  • Participatesin the helpdesk call schedule.
  • Assistswith AV support.
  • Maintainsknowledge and performs basic tasks of the Network Administrator & theNetwork Support Engineer as needed.
  • Maintainup-to-date expertise in the operation and application of standard computerhardware & software used by our organization.
  • Maintainan up-to-date working knowledge of a wide variety of commonly used hardware andsoftware solutions.
  • Collaborateswith external hospital partners to establish and maintain Electronic MedicalRecords (EMR) access for LOPA staff, ensuring HIPAA compliance, and supportingEMR access issues, including the development and maintenance of workinstructions.

Supervisory or Advanced Responsibilities

  • Maybe required to function in the role of a preceptor to new IT staff or ITinterns.

 

Work Environment

  • Frequently,work is done indoors in an office setting.
  • Occasionaltravel to branch office locations.
  • Rarely,travel within the U.S., including flying.
  • Rarely,work required in small and/or enclosed spaces.
  • Attimes, requires work in poorly ventilated areas.
  • Possibleexposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, airborne illnesses,hazardous materials, pharmacological agents with little likelihood of harm ifestablished health precautions are followed.
  • May,at times, have exposure to blood, packaged organs and tissues for transplantand/or research in a hospital setting or while in the office.

 

Physical Demands

  • Occasionallyascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, or the like.
  • Rarelymoving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environmentsincluding tight and confined spaces.
  • Frequentlyremaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolongedperiods.
  • Occasionallyreaching with hands and arms.
  • Occasionallyadjusting or moving objects up to 10 pounds in all directions.
  • Frequentlycommunicating with others verbally and electronically to exchange information.
  • Occasionallystooping, bending, kneeling or crouching.
  • Frequentlyrepeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Frequentlyassessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Frequentlydoing work that requires visual acuity and the use of fine motor skills.
  • Needfor the ability to hear.
  • Requiresdriving when travel is needed.
  • Occasionally,operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Rarelyrequires medium work that includes moving or lifting objects up to 50 pounds.

 

Work Hours

This is a full-time positionthat also requires 7 days of 24 hour helpdesk call coverage every 8 weeks (mayvary with staff availability). Occasionally, overtime may be required.

 

Education and Experience

  • Associate'sdegree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or sixmonths to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalentcombination of education and experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Prouser knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Abilityto read, analyze and interpret complex data and technical procedures.
  • Abilityto write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Abilityto calculate figures and compute data.
  • Abilityto troubleshoot, research and solve practical problems.
  • Abilityto maintain confidentiality.
  • Abilityto multi-task and to be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ableto coordinate, communicate and document change.
  • Thoroughknowledge of software and database systems.
