Job description

Role: Payroll Analyst
Duration: 2 Months (potential to extend)
Location: Cary, NC
Job Summary:
The Consultant Payroll Tax demonstrates in depth knowledge in regard to US Payroll Tax law and regulation.
This role will be responsible for monitoring and performing company's Payroll Tax activities, including all tax correspondences and transactions with the 3rd party Payroll Tax provider as well as internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely filing & reporting to government authorities.
Main Accountabilities:
Strategy & Planning; Assists with implementation of key strategies and projects as identified or assigned.
Operational Services; Researches and remains current with Payroll Tax compliance laws and regulations, provides Payroll Tax awareness of applicable changes, and provides appropriate recommendations.
Collaborates with team along with various workstreams to resolve employee inquiries/cases within the SLA timeframe. Documents the source, seeks proper approvals, determines any necessary transactions, and documents them according to company's policies.
Accountable for analysis of payroll or employee data related entries that impact the accuracy of tax withholding or reporting. Helps identify drivers for these abnormalities, researches, analyses and documents as well as propose corrective action.
Responsible for recording, monitoring, and resolving agency tax notices/tracers with 3rd party provider & government agencies, as well as validating of all agency responses.
Performs detailed jurisdictional reconciliations for internal and external audits.
Creates ad hoc reporting to support multiple workstreams and functions.
Executes system testing to ensure required changes are performed accurately and timely.
Collectively collaborates with team to proactively monitor internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely tax filing & reporting to government authorities.
Audits and validates Payroll Tax filings / reports submitted on behalf of company by our 3rd party service provider.
Reviews and confirms that all Payroll Tax deposits are accurate and executed on-time to eliminate any late filing penalties.
Identifies unusual transactions, escalates when appropriate, coordinates resolution and interacts with 3rd party payroll provider.
Assists with Quarter Balancing & Year End processes with ADP Tax Services.
Initiates and records earnings and tax adjustments into the applicable payroll system, as requested by company's 3rd party International Tax Partner (PWC). Ensures appropriate documentation exists to prove our employee's taxable wages and tax liabilities. Engaged in payroll transactions related to Expatriate & Inpatriate employees and monitors the impacts to their taxation.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Customer Experience; Resolves ServiceNow cases in accordance with the Key Performance Indicators, while also providing exceptional customer service.
Build strong working relationships with various cross-functional groups throughout Human Resources to deliver exceptional customer service experience by responding accurately and timely to customer requests
Provide feedback to customer facing teams and equip them with knowledge to respond to customer requests
Create awareness and guide employees (as applicable) on Self service functions
Continuous Improvement  Confirms that all controls are functioning as designed and proactively identifies areas for improvement in internal controls.
Submits change or enhancement requests when necessary, such as new wage types and compliance updates.
Provides recommendations for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. Confirms that all controls are functioning as designed and proactively identifies areas for improvement in internal controls. Includes testing of segregation of duties (SOD), testing of payroll service's controls and identifies "gaps", as well as participating in annual SOX testing and validation exercises.
Identify and implement improvement ideas by challenging the status-quo (especially processes that are manual/repetitive)
Knowledge, Skills, Experience Basic Qualifications:
A relevant Bachelor's degree with two years of payroll time experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Knowledge of payroll methods, end-to-end processing steps, and best practices; up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and other MS Office applications
Experience with SAAS Systems
Hands-on experience with multi-state and multi-company payroll
Organized and focused to drive meaningful results, process improvements, manage complexity, and meet operational deadlines
Knowledge of integrated, cross-functional business systems
Critical thinking skills to investigate and resolve issues
Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt well to changing priorities to meet deadlines
Ability to work in a flexible environment where requirements and procedures continuously evolve
Highly ethical, analytical, team-oriented, flexible, inquisitive & logical
Must maintain confidential information discreetly and protect employee privacy
Preferred Qualification:
CPP certification
Workday or SAP payroll module experience
ADP experience
