Payroll Specialist

Position Summary:

Responsible for the accurate tracking of weekly payroll timesheets, training employees on the timekeeping system, and assisting the Director of Payroll with various payroll duties.

Responsibilities & Duties:

1. Process union payroll, reports, and remittances

1. Create and maintain personnel files

1. Perform new hire setup and employee maintenance

1. Complete requests for unemployment and employment verifications

1. Complete local, state, and federal tax reports and remittances

1. Accurately update, verify, and maintain records in About Time daily

1. Contact foreman and supervisors for any missed times

1. Interface with field and shop workers

1. Ensure change order labor is charged to the appropriate line item for each job

1. Work with the divisional production departments on change order labor to assist with billings

1. Assist foreman and supervisors with time entry edits and/or corrections

1. Provide payroll related customer service to field and management employees

1. Train foreman and supervisors on About Time system

1. Travel to all company offices for training as needed

1. Provide administrative support to the payroll department

1. Assist Director of Payroll with various audits

1. Adhere to all company policies and procedures
2. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in accounting or related field, or combination of education and experience
• Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Effective time management and organization skills
• Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills; both internal and external
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
