JOB SUMMARY
The responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist I encompass a range of tasks, primarily focused on processing payroll for multiple states and entities. This role involves key functions such as timesheet management, payroll data entry, reporting, paycheck calculations, and ensuring timely payroll transmissions within tight deadlines.
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Expected starting base salary $27 to $32 per hour.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
" Maintain and update employee payroll information
" Verify timesheets for completeness and accuracy, coordinating corrections with managers
" Audit timecards, import, and balance hours from the Time System
" Process pays in adherence to state regulations and company policies
" Prepare and balance pay data and manual adjustment batches
" Execute pay transactions such as leaves of absence, transfers, job status changes, and terminations
" Process manual checks and adjustments for paid time off accruals
" Validate payroll preview data using reports and Excel templates, ensuring corrections before transmission
" Calculate retroactive pay adjustments
" Manage and process garnishments from distribution to setup
" Develop and distribute custom payroll reports
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
" 1-3 years of payroll processing experience
" Associates degree or equivalent work experience
" Knowledge of multi-state processing, including taxation
" Experience with paycheck calculation and taxation, including pre-tax and after-tax knowledge
" Proficiency in utilizing a report writer for creating custom reports
" Strong customer service, verbal and written communication skills
" Proficient in software applications: ADP Vantage HCM, Microsoft Office, Excel
" Strong organizational, professionalism, attention to detail skills
" Mathematical, research, and analytical skills
