Job description

Position Summary:
The Payroll and HRIS Administrator position will provide administrative payroll and HRIS support to the Vice President of Human Resources. This position will accurately calculate, process, and maintain payroll records.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for bi-weekly payroll preparation and ensuring payroll accuracy before submitting for approval.
  • Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings and deductions.
  • Providing information and answering employee questions about payroll-related matters.
  • Contact department supervisors for discrepancies (missed punches, timecard edits, PTO approvals, etc.)
  • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, PTO time, employee changes, and insurance and payroll deductions.
  • Ensures that wage deductions, deposits, adjustments, 401k changes, benefit deductions, and garnishments are applied appropriately.
  • Ensures all local, state, and federal employee taxes are set up appropriately.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Assists Accounting with reports needed for the general ledger or payroll reconciliation per pay period.
  • Implement and maintain payroll best practices to improve efficiency and consult with the HR team to improve payroll and HRIS processes.
  • Produces scheduled and ad-hoc reports pertaining to payroll and HR requirements.
  • Problem-solve all HRIS and time issues.
  • Set up and process new hires appropriately.
  • Assist with all governmental regulatory filings.
  • Other duties as required.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or other related field of study
  • 5+ years’ experience administering payroll and HRIS systems and taxes.
  • Must have multi-state payroll processing experience.
  • Must have strong knowledge of various computer software applications, including payroll, benefits, time & attendance, HRIS, self-service systems, and performance management. Experience with Payroll & HRIS systems a plus.
  • Must be proficient with MS Excel
  • Must have high interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.

  • Has shown the ability to respond quickly and accurately to requests for data and provide excellent customer service, a must.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
