We are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator with ideally multi-state payroll processing experience to join our team of dedicated professionals.

Location: This position can be based out of Century City (CA) on a hybrid basis.

Overview of Role: The Payroll & Benefits Coordinator is responsible for supporting the payroll, timekeeping, and benefits functions of the HR Department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to Payroll & Benefits Manager by preparing daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and quarterly reports
  • Monitor payroll ticketing system and process requests to correct timesheet errors and make manual adjustments and corrections
  • Ensure labor law compliance by reviewing meal and rest break data, and compiling necessary meal waiver forms  
  • Assists in manual check preparations, including final checks, severance pay, and bonuses  
  • Monitor non-exempt employee schedules to ensure adherence to shift start times
  • Coordinate with other members of HR regarding any employee changes in payroll (i.e. terminations, new hires)
  • Conduct benefit meetings with employees
  • Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction.
  • Assist employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit claims.
  • Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives
  • Administer COBRA
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation and review monthly unemployment statements
  • Assist with leave of absence administration
  • Prepare and complete employment verification inquiries from outside agencies
  • Maintain meticulous files, both electronic and hard copy
  • Assist with administration of firm-wide wellness program
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

A successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • 2+ years of payroll and benefits administration experience, ideally for the states of California, New York, Tennessee, Delaware, Texas, and others
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; Associate's degree or higher is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (in person, on the phone, and via email)
  • Detail-oriented with analytical mindset
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable labor laws and best practices
  • Able to work independently will little supervision
  • Able to juggle multiple responsibilities and maintain a sense of urgency
  • Able to act in a confidential capacity
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Solid interpersonal skills and other key soft skills (i.e., communication, time management, emotional intelligence, adaptability, active listening, critical-thinking, etc.
  • Ability to quickly shift gears without losing focus
  • Experience with ADP WorkForce Now is highly preferred

This is a non-exempt, overtime eligible position. Employee compensation is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, employee education/training/credentials, employee work experience, work location (including if the employee will be hybrid or fully in-office), the scope and responsibilities of the role, internal peer equity, and market considerations. The expected base compensation hiring range for this position is $59,000 to $68,000 per year.
