Job description

Goodwill of the Heartland is seeking a mission-oriented and accurate individual who enjoys working with technology to fill our full-time Payroll and HRIS Specialist position at our Cedar Rapids Headquarters. This is a hybrid position – with the option to work from home 2 days per week following onboarding and training.

The Payroll and HRIS Specialist will support the Senior Payroll and Benefits Administrator in processing payroll for the organization, serve as a backup when needed. This position will review timesheets, build and produce reports, and assist with security role configuration in the HRIS (UKG), and other payroll/HRIS/Benefits related duties. This role also assists in the leave management and tracking process. Strong candidates should be detail oriented and understand the importance of accuracy and efficiency, while also being interested in supporting our team members who may have technological barriers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of office administration experience. Payroll experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite required. Experience with UKG and query/report development preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Office 365 and particularly Excel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including demonstrated desire to positively engage with new team members who may need assistance with technology.
  • A successful criminal, DHS, and motor vehicle background check is required, including a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Valid driver’s license and pass motor vehicle record screening.

The Payroll and HRIS Specialist wage starts at $22.57 - $24.83 per hour. Typical office hours are Monday – Friday 8AM-4:30PM though some additional hours may be necessary during busy times of the year. Apply online only at www.workatgoodwill.com.
