We seek a talented, independent, and highly motivated individual to join our Accounting and Finance team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong accounting and analytical skills, the ability to work independently while in a team setting, attention to detail, and a firm understanding of the underlying Payroll and business processes. In addition, this individual must possess good communications and customer service skills and be highly reliable. This role will support the CFO by assuming a wide range of accounting and financial reporting responsibilities. Responsibilities include playing a key role in the monthly financial close and annual audit, lead the Payroll and benefits accounting process, and several other financial accounting responsibilities.
**One day remote work available after fully trained**
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
General Ledger process, including:
- Preparation of journal entries
- Preparation of general ledger account reconciliations and account analysis
Payroll and Benefits accounting process, including:
- Oversee and improve compensation accounting
- Process weekly Payroll and related journal entries for over 270 employees
- Primary interface and support to the Human Resource department
- Primary interface with the 3rd party payroll service (UKG/UltiPro or ADP)
- Oversee 3rd party payroll tax service filings
- Process employee benefit plan payments
- Maintain controls over and interface with the 401K Plan provider
- Lead the annual 401k audit with outside audit team
- Reconcile and maintain all related general ledger accounts
- Research and respond to all inquiries from outside vendors and internal employees concerning the payments / invoices and administration associated with the payroll accounts
- Develop and document efficient and repeatable processes and procedures for the reconciliation of all payroll related accounts
- Lead updates with the Director of Finance to the monthly Commissions calculation
Maintenance of the internal control system:
- Recommend and implement corrective actions to resolve and eliminate root-cause issues, improve process accuracy and efficiency, and strengthen internal controls
- Proactively seek to continuously improve processes to achieve greater efficiencies and control
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3-5 years of industry or public accounting experience
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles
- Strong communications and customer service skills
- Highly reliable and ability to handle confidential information
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with sophisticated ERP processes
- Experience with 3rd party payroll services (UKG/UltiPro or ADP)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Strong technological aptitude
