About the Role

The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for the completion of payroll funding, in accordance to the payroll schedule for both US and Canada. Additionally, this person will complete the preparation of ledger entries, ensuring that earnings, deductions and taxes are done properly and timely. This position is responsible for internal audits, as well as preparing information for external audits. The Payroll Analyst is a member of the Total Rewards team within Scoular's HR department, they will provide support to the HR department and work closely with the Corporate Accounting team.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll and ensures accuracy of final payroll results. Processes wage assignments, ensuring payments are sent timely. Ensures final payments are made in accordance with termination laws and manual payments are processed as needed. Includes overseeing recurring imports and one-time adjustments.
  • Partner with ADP to identify, resolve, and test payroll issues.
  • Accountable for accuracy of overall payroll funding as well as the controls and approvals.
  • Provides support to all reporting requests by local, state, or federal agencies regarding payroll or tax information (eg State MultiWorksite reporting), including support during annual audits.
  • Works closely with our Finance accounting team on all GL related items, adjustments, reconciliations, etc.
  • Leads Payroll related projects, such as onboarding new international payroll vendors (not responsible for processing international payroll)
  • Provides audit support or processing for HR related invoices related to payroll processing (ex: STD/LTD premium invoices)

 

About You:

  • Two-year degree or some college desired with business/accounting specialization
  • Three years of payroll experience, accounting experience a plus
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality with respect to sensitive information
  • A high aptitude for dealing with numbers and attention to detail
  • Must have above average knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of other Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced workplace
  • Must demonstrate reliability and willingness to follow through on tasks, including repetitive tasks.
  • Comfortable responding to internal and external inquiries.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a business-related field
  • A payroll certification designation of FPC
  • ADP system experience
