Payment Posting Representative

We are now hiring a full time Payment Posting Representative who will work in a remote setting as part of our Billing Department. This position will require Medical Billing and Collection training and/or certification. This position also requires a minimum of two years previous posting experience in a medical practice setting. The schedule is full time, Mon-Fri, 8:30a-5pm. It is a remote position that will require the technical skills and self-discipline to work from home. Position Overview:

Primary responsibilities for this position include posting manual checks, credit card payments, electronic Remittances, denials, adjustments, and reconciliation of deposits to posted transactions timely and accurately per practice. Posting details of EOBs payments from insurance companies to our patient accounts. As well as refunds for patient(s), credit card, and third-party insurance companies. Handles Processing of billing statement. The Payment Posting Representative is primarily responsible for all aspects of Cash Posting, A/R collections, customer account reconciliation, and providing support to various departments. The role provides a variety of administrative, technical, and supportive assistance to the Revenue Cycle, Accounting, and Finance departments.

Essential Job Functions

EOB Posting:

· Post all non-EDI payments, contractual allowances, rejection codes, deductibles, and copayments; 90%
· Capable of posting miscellaneous payments, manual and electronic to patient accounts; 5%
· Calls insurance companies when needed to request remits; 5%

Refunds:

· Process all patient and insurance refunds that have been reviewed and approved by management; 80%
· Review and resolve any uncashed and/or returned refund checks; 5%
· Responds to Billing team inquiries related to refunds; 10%
· Acts as a backup Payment Posting Assistant when needed; 5%

ERS Posting:

· Works all 835 exceptions that fall into ERS posting within Imagine; 70%
· Handles all rule's mapping of payers within our ERS module; 5%
· Export 835 electronic payment files from payer websites in preparation of posting; and posts; 5%
· Obtain missing ERA/835/EOB from payers via portal or telephone; 5%
· Research and handles recoupments to determine appropriate resolution by payers; 5%
· Resolve any edits and report issues timely and accurately from all 835 payer files; 2%

JOB DESCRIPTION:

· Identify credit balances at time of posting and correct any erroneous posting mistakes; add credits to refund spreadsheet; 3%
· Responds to Billing team inquiries related to posting; 5%

TOS:

· Monitor TOS module to make sure automation is occurring timely, if not bring to management attention; 2%
· Research unidentified payments to determine appropriate resolution; 3%

Reconciliation:

· Balance payments and daily deposits to confirm all transactions have been posted; 10%
· Pulls deposits from bank lockbox/website and remits from various websites to post payments; 15%
· Responds to Billing team inquiries related to posting; 5%
· Update and maintain all logs and spreadsheets used for reconciliation; 20%
· Research unidentified payments and/or recoupments to determine appropriate resolution; 5%
· Identify credit balances at time of posting and correct any erroneous posting mistakes; add credits to refund spreadsheet for management approval; 20%

Statements:

· Daily Review and release statements in practice management system; 90%
· Monitor Statements on hold for release and/or to send ledgers out for specific patient balances; 10%

Non-Essential Job Functions:

· Working knowledge of EOBs, EFTs and ERAs.
· Knowledge of Managed Care Contracts, Medicare, and Medicaid.
· Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and data entry skills.
· Requires critical thinking skills, attention to detail, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Proficient use of Google or Microsoft Office applications.
· Attends scheduled Posting and Billing team meetings.
· Maintains or exceeds established productivity goals and quality standards.
· Sufficient communication skills (both written and verbal).
· Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and coordinate work load with a high degree of proficiency and accuracy.
· Ability to work easily and cooperatively with other departments and be a team player.
· We are primarily a remote work force, however, there may be some days scheduled in-office during your orientation. In addition, we may require in-office attendance a certain days for special meetings and training sessions.

Education Required:

· A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
· Medical Billing and Collection training and/or certification.

Previous Related Work Experience Required: (include number of years)

· Team members must have a minimum of two years previous posting experience in a medical practice setting.
· We utilize a variety of software programs daily and expect new team members to be comfortable and efficient using a variety of technologies.

Physical and Working Requirements of the Position: (such as job location, lifting, standing, etc.)

· Standing and sitting for extended periods of time.
· Ability to lift at times than 25Ibs.
