Patient Transporter

Summary of Position:

Assumes responsibility for transporting patients and materials within the hospital and nursing home. Inventories and fills over the counter General Stores products correctly and efficiently.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Safely transports patients and materials (to include blood and specimens) within the hospital and nursing home. Delivers Code Blue Crash Carts, Latex Carts and Urology Catheter Carts as needed.

Employs safe lifting techniques when transporting patients to and from beds, exam tables, stretchers and wheelchairs.

Sets up different types of traction for patient use.

Transports deceased patients to the morgue.

Picks up requisitions for blood, pharmacy meds and slips from required units and delivers to the appropriate service; delivers stat, lab specimens, and medical charts.

Inventories and exchanges oxygen cylinder and other gas tanks to maintain patient needs.

Inventories and fills over the counter General Stores products correctly and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent. Some hospital experience is desirable.
