Job Description
Pay Range: $15.15 - $20.52 per hour
While performing patient escort services staff will escort Mercy patients/visitors and deliver communications/supplies throughout the hospital, Mercy Medical Plaza, and Medical Oncology in a courteous, timely, and efficient manner.
Assists in the training of new Patient Transporters and volunteers.
Completes special projects or tasks delegated by supervisor during downtime.
Provides friendly, helpful, and positive communication with patients, visitors, and staff.
Greets and assists customers and patients throughout the facility, provides information to customers, patients, and employees in a positive and respectful manner.
Maintains a clean work area and monitors equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the Environmental Services Manager.
Picks up and delivers STAT items, including medications from Pharmacy, Lab specimens, patient care supplies, equipment, charts, and other items to and from appropriate departments. Locates and returns patient care equipment to appropriate areas.
Reports to the lobby during a fire to direct the Fire Department to the appropriate area.
Transports patients by wheelchair/cart to and from the nursing units and ancillary departments and assists in orienting patient to the hospital and the room. Notifies the nursing unit of the patient's arrival. Escorts patient at time of dismissal as necessary.
Clean & sanitize certain patient care equipment such as (but not limited to) fans, pumps, and wheelchairs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
Ability to perform mathematical functions quickly and accurately.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Certification:
Certification in CPR, basic life support is required within 6 months of date of hire.
Certification in CPI is required within 6 months of date of hire.
Certified Nurses Aide certificate or experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
