Kearney Eye Institute is seeking an organized and outgoing team member to join our medical receptionist department. This position involves 36 to 40 hours per week at a wage equivalent with experience. Medical receptionist experience preferred, but not required. OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets and orients patients as they arrive for their appointments.
- Answer inbound telephone calls in a prompt and courteous manner and route to appropriate station as necessary.
- Schedules appointments, obtains pertinent demographic information, using practice’s specialized computer software.
- Gather necessary data and insurance co-payment from patients when making appointments and verify the data upon check-in.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility.
- Figure patient’s copayment amount and request payment.
- Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments and maintain organized patient files.
- File papers and charts as needed.
- Recall patients
- Call patients to remind them of upcoming appointments.
- Compile new patient packages.
- Review, copy, and distribute correspondence including electronic faxes.
- Import patient data from portal.
- Balance cash drawer daily.
- Inform and monitor tech callbacks.
- Maintain proper opening and closing procedures
- Intercept patients upon discharge and obtain necessary information and payment before patient departs
- Provide a clinical summary that includes receipt and next appointment date/time.
- § Answer patient questions and/or direct questions to the appropriate person.
- Assists co-workers as needed.
- Follows office policies and protocols to assure compliance with regulations.
