Position Summary
This individual responds to inbound phone calls and determines prospective patients' needs and viability while providing accurate and responsive intake. They also provide general Curated Mental Health information to prospective referrers, patients and communities, ensuring excellent patient-facing service. The Patient Intake Specialist processes and transcribes patients’ information for referral entry and responds to electronic platforms, faxed or phoned-in referrals. This individual follows Curated Mental Health admission criteria and processes referrals accordingly as well as ensuring the same for their supervisees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Handles all initial Patient Intake from initial contact to completion of onboarding
Actively reviews providers schedules to allow for optimized scheduling in accordance with the operations needs
Has knowledge of which facility and providers offer which services so the patient can be properly assigned to the appropriate care team
Verbally reviews all intake paperwork with prospective patients to ensure comprehension
Provides financial counseling that ensures prospective patients understand their financial obligations for care
Ensures patient demographics, insurance info/ card, referrals and medical histories are accurately put into the EMR and assigned to the appropriate care-team
Supports practice management on relevant information regarding daily operations
Participates in regular group meetings with operations team
Reports to management with updates on intake data as relevant
Maintains a welcoming and helpful attitude for prospective Curated patients
Maintains knowledge of provider availability and insurance credentialing
Ensures patient completes all intake related paperwork
Ensures all intake paperwork is accurate and complete
Verifies medical insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits for each patient.
Schedules initial appointments or initial consultations
Answers phone, text, and email inquiries from prospective patients.
Addresses any prospective patient queries or concerns
Prepares and maintains patient charts through intake process
Clears and responds to all emails and voicemails by the end of day
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Bachelor’s Degree
One-year experience working with Patient Intake preferred
Experience in healthcare or related field is preferred
