Overview
St. Luke's Health System in Meridian is seeking a FLEX (0.2 FTE)Patient Educator (BSN) to join our Women's Services team.
Shift: Day
Unit/Position Summary
In our Meridian Hospital, our labor nurses are skilled in the high tech aspects of birthing as well as high touch. We provide training in therapeutic touch, natural birth support, breathing techniques, water therapy, and supporting women's rituals around birth to help them become the most skillful and supportive nurses possible for every unique birthing experience.
Responsibilities
  • Assesses patient's needs, diagnoses lactation problems, plans and implements intervention, and evaluates outcomes.
  • Conducts prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates educational outcomes.
  • Provides outpatient care and consultation for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties.
  • Serves as consultant for physicians and other healthcare providers concerning lactation as it relates to patient's health problems.
  • Develops and leads classes on breastfeeding for new and expectant parents.
  • Meets with new mothers to assess interest in breastfeeding. Identifies issues and offers suggestions or corrections.
  • Specializes in consulting staff and patients on proper breastfeeding techniques.
  • Handles complex issues and problems.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's of Nursing Degree
  • Experience: 0 year's clinical experience
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Current RN License from the State of Practice
