About the role: 
Boston Scientific is looking for a Patient Data Request Specialist to join the legal department as part of its growing Global Privacy Team, supporting its wholly owned subsidiary Boston Scientific Cardiac Diagnostic Services, LLC.  Boston Scientific Cardiac Diagnostic Services is part of Boston Scientific’s Cardiac Solutions portfolio and provides remote diagnostic products and services to facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment for patient’s burdened with cardiac issues. This role provides you with the opportunity to be a key contributor at a leading innovative medical device company while working on diverse privacy and data protection matters related to HIPAA-regulated data. Your day will primarily include processing patient and third-party medical record requests. Additionally, you may also support other important aspects of the Boston Scientific Cardiac Diagnostic Services patient privacy program, including employee training and awareness, and assisting on privacy risk assessments and audits.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing incoming patient and third-party requests for medical records, including obtaining appropriate authorization for release forms, and fulfilling and documenting the requests.
  • Supporting updates to HIPAA policies, procedures and training.
  • Supporting legal counsel in implementing and managing a variety of privacy projects which may include aiding counsel in any potential privacy incident investigations. 
  • Monitoring the Boston Scientific Cardiac Diagnostic Services Privacy mailbox and voicemail queue. Assisting on HIPAA-related audits and risk assessments.
  • Interacting professionally with patients, internal business stakeholders and other individuals.


Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare privacy and project management/administration.
  • Proven skills in the following:
    • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
    • Strong verbal communication skills.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
    • Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office and Adobe software).
  • Ability to prioritize, adapt and work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic global work environment under limited supervision.
  • Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources and present it in a meaningful and concise way.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in privacy and data protection (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CHPC).
  • Interest in and fundamental understanding of privacy laws, including HIPAA and other applicable U.S. privacy laws (federal and state).
  • Have a notary certificate.
