Patient Care Technician

JOB TITLE: Patient Care Technician
CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: Staff RN/LPN, Clinical Nurse Manager
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, Part-Time (Mondays & Fridays)
Job Responsibilities\*:

• Collect and accurately document patient information, including the chief complaint, current medications, allergies, tobacco/smoking history, and smoke exposure for all patients as reported by family
• Accurately obtain vital signs (TPR, BP), height, weight, and head circumference
• Orient the family at the time of the visit to the clinic environment, paperwork, etc.
• Provide basic Patient Care, including providing nourishment, informing of delays, directing patients to rooms, etc
• Prepare and stock exam rooms, monitor supply levels
• Check and ensure all relevant equipment such as, but not limited to, scales, stadiometers, vital signs machines, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, oxygen, and suction are in working order; perform corrective actions as needed and/or inform the nurse or appropriate person of repair needs
• Collect lab specimens, including but not limited to: capillary blood draws, throat and nasal swabs, urine specimens, and stool specimens, and process using EMR and other lab systems
• Utilize CLIA-waived POC labs including but not limited to: lead, lipids, glucose
• Conduct in-house CLIA-waived testing including but not limited to: strep, flu, RSV, COVID, urine drug screens, urine HcG, HIV, mono, and urine clinitek analysis
• Collect and send out specimens to outside labs, including but not limited to: throat culture, stool, and urine analysis, newborn metabolic screening, COVID PCR, urine drug screen

Knowledge, Skills, and Certifications/Licenses
High School Diploma or GED (required)
Hours
Clinic hours are Monday -Thursday, 6 am - 8 pm; Fridays, 6 am - 6 pm; and Saturdays and Sundays, 8 am - 12 pm.
AM shift is 545am-1 pm (545am -12 pm on Fridays), PM shift is 1245pm - 8 pm (1145am - 6 pm on Fridays).
Candidates may work a collection of AM and PM shifts or hours otherwise designated by the nursing manager.
