Dr. William McLeroy established the precursor to Harris Methodist Northwest Hospital in early 1954 by opening a small physician's office and clinic in the northwest Tarrant County area. Dr. McLeroy later sold the practice to Dr. James Savage and Dr. Jack Mobley in the late 1950s. The original 16-bed facility has now grown into a suburban hospital with 36 beds, offering outpatient services and serving the communities of northwest Tarrant County.
In 1977, the facility was sold to the Azle Hospital Authority and a short time later the hospital became part of the Harris Methodist Health System, now Texas Health Resources.
Texas Health Resources was formed in 1997 with the merger of Fort Worth-based Harris Methodist Health System and Dallas-based Presbyterian Healthcare Resources. Later that year, Arlington Memorial Hospital joined the THR system. THR is one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit health-care delivery systems in the United States. The system serves more than 5.4 million people living in 29 counties in north central Texas. THR has 13 acute-care hospitals with 2,442 licensed hospital beds, employs more than 15,500 people and counts more than 3,200 physicians with active staff privileges at its hospitals.
