The Patient Care Technician provides a variety of indirect and direct care, including provision for patient's dependency needs such as nutrition, hygiene, safety, and physical and psychological comfort measures, to patient and significant others, under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values.
Work is primarily performed in patient settings. Extensive interaction with patients, staff, physicians, family members and visitors. Lifting, bending, stooping and exposure to blood borne pathogens. This position has been evaluated as a Level 1 in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) definition of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Medical ICU
The ICUs include Trauma, Neuroscience, Surgical, Medical, Vascular, Cardiothoracic, Coronary Care, Burn, Adult ICU Step Down, Pediatrics, and Neonatal Units. TGH is a Level I Trauma Center, and a certified Regional Burn Center that excels in the care of critically ill patients.

TGH is the area's only level I trauma center and one of just two ABA-verified adults & pediatric burn centers in Florida. With five medical helicopters*, we transport critically injured or ill patients from 23 surrounding counties to receive the advanced care they need. The hospital is home to one of the busiest solid organ transplant centers in the country. TGH is a nationally designated comprehensive stroke center and has a 32-bed Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit.
